To my best knowledge, I had never been bitten by a tick before. Possibly as a kid but not that I remember as an adult. However, in the last two years, the rise I’ve seen in ticks has been astonishing. I have my multi-layered theories on this, but I’ll stick to the topic at hand: what to do if you’re bitten by a tick.

I’m not an expert like my East Coast friends are, but as someone with a very sensitive health constitution, ticks freak me out. Two weeks ago, we found one embedded in our son’s head, and last Sunday, I had one on my chest.

Like many of you, I’ve been getting fed a lot of tick content recently. However, I’ve been tuning into the holistic, step-by-step process of what to do if you find one embedded.

I reached out to everyone I know with deep tick and Lyme experience. Here’s what everyone recommended, step by step (best to have on hand if you’re in a high tick location):
